Often referred to as “liberal education,” classical learning is a time-tested approach that aims to train students in the tools of learning, equipping them to learn for themselves rather than training in taking tests or for a specific career. By fostering wonder for the true, good and beautiful, it educates the whole person. By studying the trivium (grammar, logic and rhetoric) and often Latin, students learn to use language well, thinking, writing and speaking clearly and persuasively. And by studying the great works of Ancient Greece and Rome, the Renaissance and Reformation and the American regime, students ask the perennial questions of human life and, through conversation, practice the habits of good human beings and free citizens.
